(SANTA ANA, CA, 9/18/11) – Ten students have were indicted with two counts of misdemeanors that the Orange County District Attorney’s office decided to take to criminal court. After weeks of trial, thousands of dollars in taxpayer money, rigorous jury selection sifting through more than 200 jurors, the ‘Irvine 11′ trial will come to a close. The jury’s verdict will not only determine what the students’ sentence will be, but their decision could impact your right to free speech. On September 19th, various Southern California community leaders will address the important impacts this trial has already had on the community, and what they hope will come of this.
Defense attorneys and prosecutors are expected to make closing statements on Monday, September 19th.
